Meet the Accessible Arts team – Kay Richardson

Kay Richardson is the Operations Manager and maintains the key operational, financial, training, IT and human resources functions.

What attracted you to the role at Accessible Arts?

I really enjoy experiencing all forms of arts and culture. Also, for many years I have been involved in developing initiatives that create positive social impact on behalf of not for profit organisations. Accessible Arts provides me with a way to focus on all of these!

What are you responsible for?

Officially, I am responsible for “maintaining the key operational, financial, training , IT and human resources services” as well as contributing to strategic planning.

What do you hope to achieve in your role?

Over my years of working as a consultant in various roles, I have gained a fairly unique set of transferable skills. In particular, I like technology and discovering ways it can be employed to make organisations become more efficient and effective. Right now, for Accessible Arts that means taking us to “the cloud” and creating accessible digital resources.

What excites or inspires you about working in the arts and disability sector?

I am a natural collaborator who relates well to people from disparate backgrounds, and I admire people who are committed to making the world a better place.  It is my honour to support members of the arts and disability community, who will no doubt inspire me in return.

Do you have any favourite hobbies?

I don’t have time for hobbies, but if I did, it would be photography and writing.

Describe yourself in three words.

Persistent, altruistic, emphatic.
