Out of the Studio is a program supporting choreographers and dancers at the beginning of their careers.

The program is an opportunity for artists to further develop ideas they have explored with DirtyFeet and to present a raw, first draft of their work to audiences at Shopfront Arts Co-Op.

The idea is to bring simple staging (basic lighting, costumes, sets and props) into the equation early in the development of work, to bridge the gap from the studio to the theatre. Out of the Studio provides audiences with an unusual insight and important role in making a dance work, by bringing them into the theatre in the early stages so that their experience and feedback becomes an integral part of the process. The low-key performances are opportunities for experimentation, feedback and discovery in the theatre space; a place from which new Australian dance works can grow.
