Sound and Light Celebration

The Sound and Light Celebration, a collaboration of different artforms and media, was held at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre on 3 December 2010 for International Day for People with Disability.

Celebrations provided a showcase for some of the exciting developments occurring in Penrith following the Disability Arts & Culture Forum held for IDPwD in 2009, and the Mapping Workshop in July 2010.

There was a multimedia performance by people from Flintwood Disability Services and Nepean Area Disability Organisation facilitated and supported by Musicativity and Sylvanvale Foundation. A CD of the two songs was also launched at the event. To find out more about the music project contact Musicativity.

Artwork produced by artists from the Sunnyfield Aboriginal Arts Project was exhibited and a participatory drumming session by Nordoff- Robbins Music Therapy Centre provided an exciting finale.

The Sound and Light Celebration was supported by the National Disability Coordination Officer Program based at the University of Western Sydney and Penrith City Council.
