On 29 July 2010, nineteen representatives from the arts, disability and community sector participated in a cultural mapping workshop at Penrith City Council. The workshop was facilitated by Dr Helen Armstrong, Adjunct-Professor at the Centre for Cultural Research, University of Western Sydney.
The mapping workshop aimed to:
- Map existing activities, resources and gaps
- Explore capacity building strategies
- Develop projects and collaborations
- Identify a collaborative and unifying proposal for funding submissions

The Discussion Paper puts forward three aims and associated criteria for community capacity building for people with disability to engage in and experience the arts.
