Community Relations Commission: Sponsorship Grants 2009-10

The Community Relations Commission provides funding assistance to organisations through its Community Development Grants Program.  The program has been developed to support the objectives of the Commission as set out in the Community Relations Commission and Principles of Multiculturalism Act 2000.

Sponsorship Grants

Sponsorship grants are for special events such as annual festivals and major cultural events. This category will open again in December 2009 and April 2010. Applications must be submitted three months before the scheduled event.

The purpose of this category is to provide public support for an event or an occasion by the New South Wales Government through the Community Relations Commission. It will also promote the Commissions responsibility and the commitment of the Government of New South Wales to multiculturalism and the value of cultural diversity.

Examples of projects supported by funding in this category are:

  • the hosting of seminars and conferences
  • multicultural and inter-community forums
  • local festivals and events
  • teaching craft skills to target groups from a culturally diverse background.

The Commission will not accept sponsorship grant requests outside the funding periods. Funding of up to $5,000 is available in this category.

Community Builders Funding Program

The Community Builders Funding Program is a community strengthening and capacity building program. It has funds available on an annual basis for time-limited projects in particular regions of NSW. The program is funded by the Department of Human Services NSW, Community Services.

Non-government organisations and local councils can apply for funding of $10,000 to $100,000 per annum, for between one and three years.

The Community Builders Funding Program is available in certain Local Government Areas (LGAs) including:

Metro South West

  • Camden, Campbelltown, Wollondilly, Wingecarribee, Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool.

Metro West

  • Auburn, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Parramatta, Penrith, The Hills.

Applications close 10 December 2009

The funding round will open 9.00am Monday 2 November, 2009 and will close at 12.00pm Thursday 10 December, 2009.

Funding of between $10,000 and $100,000 per year per project for a maximum of up to three years is available.

NSW Government: 2009/10 Community Development Grants Program

The New South Wales Government, Community Relations Commission provides funding assistance to organisations through its Community Development Grants Program.  The program has been developed to support the objectives of the Commission as set out in the Community Relations Commission and Principles of Multiculturalism Act 2000.

The 2009/10 Community Development Grants Program is now open. The Commission is pleased to advise the introduction of a new direction in grant applications with the creation of three grant categories in order to focus particularly on new and emerging communities.  This will enable the Commission to better support the work of not-for-profit incorporated community organisations and to work in partnership with local government councils to address the needs of newly-arrived and emerging communities.

There are three categories of funding under the 2010 Community Development Grants Program:

General grants

Funding under this category is for twelve months duration, commencing from the payment of the grant.  Projects may include the promotion of cultural expression, the enhancement of community development or capital purchases. Closing date is 2 October 2009.

Sponsorship grants

Funding for-for-profit incorporated organisations for special events such as annual festivals and major cultural events.  Closing date is 2 October 2009.

Local partnership grants

Funding for local government councils to enter into partnership agreement with the Commission to address the specific needs of newly-arrived or emerging communities.  Closing date is 18 September 2009.

Penrith : Magnetic Places Community Cultural Grants Program 2010

Penrith City Council invites you to celebrate an inspiring journey undertaken by seven dynamic projects across the Penrith Local Government Area. These projects, funded by the Magnetic Places Community Cultural Grants Program 2009, demonstrate communities working collaboratively with artists making creative places and spaces. Encouraged to tell their story, our diverse communities have showcased the places where they live, transforming public spaces into magnetic, creative and meaningful spaces connected to the whole of the community.

The success of projects in 2008 and 2009 have established fertile ground for the next round of funding to take the Magnetic Places program into the future. Bankstown :: 2009 Community Grants Program

Bankstwon City Council’s 2009/10 Community Grants Program is now open. Local not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding for projects under the categories of Community Grants – includes Environmental, Youth Grants, Arts/Cultural Grants and Sport & Recreation Grants.

In order to assist with the application process, attendance at our Information Workshop is considered essential.  Please contact 9707 9794 to confirm your attendance. The session will be held on Thursday 23 July 2009 at 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Council Chambers (Roundhouse off Chapel Road).

Should you be unable to attend this session you should speak with a member of the Community Planning & Development Team by phoning (02) 9707 9794 prior to lodging your application.

Grant Applications must be made on the Official Grant Application Form in accordance with the Guidelines. Application forms and guidelines are available to download from the Bankstown City Council website, and are available from Council’s five library locations:

Blue Mountains City Council :: Cultural Partnerships Program

The Cultural Partnerships Program is an innovatory scheme providing both direct funding support and endorsement to strengthen and develop the cultural infrastructure of the Blue Mountains. The program seeks to encourage innovation, partnership and collaboration in arts development in the city and to develop regional links with other cultural providers. This year the Program is funded by the Blue Mountains City Council.

Fifty percent of the overall funding allocation will be allocated to artist/artworker fees. Funding will generally be in the range of $5,000-$7,500, for a limited number of partnerships.

Applications for the 2009 Cultural Partnerships Program close Friday 5 June 2009, applications will be accepted if postmarked 5 June.

Arts NSW :: Arts Funding Program for 2010

Applications are now open for the Arts Funding Program for programs and projects to be undertaken in 2010.

The Arts Funding Program promotes:

  • Sustainable arts and cultural organisations, services and infrastructure across NSW
  • Increased access to arts and cultural activities across NSW; and
  • A creative and diverse arts sector.

The Arts Funding Program has three funding categories: Negotiated Program Funding, Program & Project Funding through application.

Hawkesbury :: CDSE 2009 Funding Round

Deadline 22 May 2009, close of business

The Community Development and Support Expenditure Scheme (CDSE) provides funds for local community service needs and priorities. It is a state-wide scheme with funds from registered clubs with annual gaming machine revenue exceeding $1 million. 2008 was, yet again, another exciting year with the completion of the CDSE scheme for the year. Three local clubs assisted several community services with funds for projects to meet the needs of the Hawkesbury community.

Holroyd :: CDSE 2009 Funding Round

The Community Development Support Expenditure (CDSE) Scheme is a community funding program supported by registered clubs which earn over $1 million in gaming machine revenue. Under State Government legislation, 1.5% of the amount earned in excess of $1 million is levied to fund projects which benefit the local community.
