Register your 2008 International Day of People with a Disability (IDPWD) arts event by September 1 and have your program included  in the Don’t Dis my Ability printed broadsheet. This full-colour program of events is distributed statewide and celebrates the achievements of people with a disability across NSW.

Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre & Accessible Arts presents Shadow Puppetry Workshops

Discover the Art of Shadow Puppetry and learn how to make, move and tell a story using a shadow puppets in these hands on practical workshops.  Develop your skills over 10 weeks to create a short piece of theatre to perform on the Q Stage.  And inbuilt literacy component in the workshop series will allow participants the opportunity to increase their literacy levels in a fun and creative way.

WHERE: Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, 597 High St Penrith.
WHEN: Wednesdays commencing 23 July - 24 September 2008 (10 weeks)
TIME: 10:00am - 1:00pm
WHO: 16yrs and over.  Workshops are geared towards people with a disability.
TUTORS: Stephen Carr and Noni Pares have had over 30 years experience in puppetry and have both worked extensively in the theatre industry with adults and children.

Access Information: The Joan has disability access, designated wheelchair seating and easily accessible amenities.  Limited disabled parking is available fore vehicles with current RTS permit.  The closest accessible train station is Penrith which is a 10-minute walk away.

Blacktown Arts Centre & Accessible Arts presents the Music Making Workshop Series

Come make a song using the Special Access Kit! Under the guidance of musician, Mark Shepherd, you can make a song using the Soundhouse Special Access Kit™. This is a unique system designed to enable people with disabilities & impairments access the wonderful world of music creation and performance!

WHERE: Blacktown Arts Centre, 72 Flushcombe rd Blacktown
WHEN: Wednesdays commencing July 23rd- September 24th 2008 (10 weeks)
TIME: 10:30-12:30

Hawkesbury Regional Gallery & Accessible Arts presents the Performance Workshop Series

An exciting series of 10 workshops for people with mild to moderate intellectual and physical disabilities.

WHERE: Hawkesbury Regional Gallery,  1st floor Deerubbin Centre, 300 George St Windsor (vehicle entry via Christie St)
WHEN: Tuesdays commencing July 29th – September 30th 2008 (10 weeks)
TIME: 10-12 noon

Access Information: There is a ramp from the Christie Street entrance and a lift to the gallery level from the basement carpark, George Street entrance and from the Ground Floor of the Library. Undercover parking is available for 78 cars. On-street parking is available in Christie, Catherine and Geroge streets.
