Accessible Arts provides TAFE accredited Disability Awareness and Access Training for arts organisations and arts workers. This training module was developed by TAFE NSW in association with Accessible Arts. All participants will receive a TAFE transcript on completion of the training.
Customised training sessions for organisations are available on a negotiable fee for service basis or staff can attend the regular monthly training sessions at Accessible Arts. In recent years Accessible Arts has provided training for the Sydney Opera House, Museums and Galleries Foundation, Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Theatre Company, Historic Houses Trust, and Museum of Contemporary Art.
Disability Awareness and Access Training is suitable for:
- Arts organisations e.g. Front of House staff, box office staff, arts administrators
- Disability arts workers e.g. arts tutors, artists, health workers who run arts programs
Learn how to
- Identify barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing venues and participating in events
- Identify strategies for breaking down physical and attitudinal barriers i.e. increasing accessibility
- Feel confident when dealing with access issues for people with disabilities
- Comply with the Disability Discrimination Act
