Project Description

An inclusive two-day workshop led by Restless Dance Theatre will be available to 30 participants from the Northern Rivers region. The aim of Heartbeat is to engage an experienced and dedicated dance teacher to develop and facilitate an integrated dance group for the Murwillumbah area. The workshop is about people with and without disabilities coming together creating expressive and distinctive dance theatre, and giving participants an opportunity to explore the artist within, in a supportive, valued and professional environment.

Philip Channells, Artistic Director of Adelaide’s Restless Dance Theatre will lead the workshop. Philip has worked extensively throughout the UK with integrated dance companies including Candoco, Corali and StopGAP. He has led scores of dance education teams on projects with young disengaged school-aged kids, people of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds with learning disabilities and physical and sensory impairment, and created work with elderly dancers in community settings.
