Process

Creating Dreams workshop participant Kaela.
The Creating Dreams workshops and exhibition is the first step in an ongoing community partnership between Cessnock Regional Art Gallery and Endeavour Industries. For several months now, a group of art-loving Endeavour clients has visited the gallery fortnightly to view the exhibitions and participate in art activities inspired by the artworks. Wednesday 25 October 2009 sees the first of two workshops with artist Ken O’Regan to create an artwork for display on the International Day of People with Disability.
The theme which connects the artworks is that of ‘What I dream of and what I love’. The participating artists have no shortage of ideas and we have been overwhelmed with volunteers from the community wishing to assist with this very worthy project. The second workshop will be held on 11 November 2009 and will be covered by local media as a lead in story to wider coverage of both the exhibition and the IDPwD celebrations on 3 December 2009.

The artworks, alongside artist biographies, will be displayed in shop fronts on Vincent Street with promotional posters and information about the IDPwD. So far this project has brought together several businesses that have volunteered their services in support of the project, in addition to the many volunteers who have offered their time during the workshops. We look forward to continuing and expanding these community relationships for future projects of Cessnock Regional Art Gallery and Endeavour Industries.
