Accessible Dance

This class is for people with moderate intellectual disabilities over the age of 16. The class has been running for six years and is held at Accessible Arts. The class developed out of an International Day for People with Disabilities.

The class involves an interactive and controlled form of exercise for fitness and fun. This is a place to meet people, have fun and get moving to music. Classes are casual so there is no need to book or enrol for a set length of time.  Carers are welcome to participate too.

Participants should wear sneakers or jazz shoes. Non-restrictive clothing such as track/dance pants, aerobic top, t-shirt, sweat-shirt. Bring a water bottle.

When: Every Saturday 10:00am - 11:15am

Where: Accessible Arts Training Room, The Wharf, Pier 4, Hickson Road Walsh Bay NSW.

Who: A class for dancers with moderate intellectual disabilities (16yrs+)

Cost: $10 per single class. Cash only (pay on the day).

Access: Wheelchair accessible venue. Accessible toilets.

About the tutors

Yumi Schaefer is an experienced dance teacher who loves to work with dance enthusiasts with varying abilities. John Daly ran the disabled dance project The Stars are Not too Far for 7 years. Teachers alternate.
