John Demos

Demos working on Creation at Macquarie Hospital Studio, 2011
Demos reworks surfaces such as paper, wood and found materials with algorithmic patterns, shapes and text.
These recurring motifs express a sense of linearity to his work. With each new work, Demos builds on this rich lexicon to express concepts within such fields as the sciences, education and the nature of creativity.
For the exhibition Framing Gravity, Demos is commissioned to create new work that employs the process-based nature of his practice as a central focus. Titled Creation, the artist will move from the studio and into the gallery to continue to shift, re-organise and build layers to the work. The aim of the work is to evolve for the duration of the exhibition.
Demos is an artist supported by the Macquarie Hospital Studio. This commission was made possible by an artist grant from Hawkesbury Regional Gallery.
