Accessible Arts shortlisted third time running

11/11/2010 - AArts News

Australian Human Rights CommissionShortlists have been announced for the Australian Human Rights Commission’s 2010 Human Rights Awards and Accessible Arts is one of five organisations in the running for a community organisation award.

This is the third time in a row that Accessible Arts has made the shortlist for protecting and promoting the rights of people with disability through improving access to the arts. In 2009 Accessible Arts successfully received a highly commended at the awards.

Commission President Catherine Branson QC, said the shortlists were judged from more than 200 high-quality entries nominated from around Australia.

“If the shortlists are anything to go by, Australia has seen a very dedicated and active group of human rights activists this year,” Ms Branson said.

“The Australian Human Rights Commission congratulates everyone who has entered the Awards for their commitment to protecting and promoting human rights in Australia.”

The shortlists were selected by judging panels comprising Commission staff, while the Human Rights Medals and Law Award will be judged by the Commission President, government and community members. View the 2010 Human Rights Awards Shortlists.
