Accessible Arts Small Grant recipients announced
Accessible Arts would like to congratulate the six successful recipients of the Accessible Arts Small Grants. These grants were awarded to individual artists or organizations, across NSW, to create high quality arts projects as part of the 2010 Don’t DISmyABILITY campaign.
Don’t DISmyABILITY is a month-long campaign of events presented by Ageing Disability & Home Care, Department of Human Services. It celebrates International Day of People With Disability on 3 December, a day designated by the United Nations to celebrate talents, skills and abilities of people with disability.
Grants were offered in three categories and were awarded as follows:
Individual Artists- Pierre Comarmond
Pierre will develop the second stage of his ‘Kirrawee Mural Project’. The mural will be installed at the entrance of Kirrawee Station in the southern suburbs of Sydney. - Georgia Rose Cranko
Emerging writer and performance artist Georgia Rose Cranko of Newtown received a grant for her project ‘Living within Context’. This combination of poetry, performance and movement will be created in collaboration with her mentors.
Western Sydney
- Beyond Vision Theatre Company
Renata Halusek, producer and ensemble member of Beyond Vision has initiated ‘Vision for Beyond Vision’ interactive workshops. The company invites people with low vision to attend a theatrical workshop and a showing of work in development at Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield. - Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest
Throughout this year’s Sizzle Arts Festival, an inclusive arts festival, the Penrith Regional Gallery & the Lewers Bequest will provide a professional development program for artists, a community curatorium, accessible public arts programs, art mentorships and work placement opportunities.
Rural & Regional NSW
- Workability, Eurobodalla
Workability received a grant for the photographic project ‘Looking out Looking In’. Participants will work with mentors to develop a photographic exhibition and engage in photographic workshops. During December the works will be exhibited across the Eurobodalla region. - Byron Shire Council
Byron Shire Council will be hosting ‘Drumming to our own Beat’, a music-based project offering body percussion and drumming workshops to develop a performance-drumming troupe.
