Callout : NSW : Deadline 7 Mar 10 : NightTime Statewide invites applications for bold short works to be performed in five venues across NSW

NightTime Statewide, a partnership between Performance Space and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, invites applications for bold short works to be performed in five venues: Performance Space, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, Orange Regional Gallery, and Tweed River Regional Art Gallery. The first performance will be held at Performance Space on Sunday 6 June 2010. Touring dates to the regional venues will be announced shortly.

Each work is to be no longer than 10 minutes. We will prioritise work that is conceptually adventurous, technically simple and executed to a professional standard. As our budget is limited, works by larger groups will not be able to be realised.

NightTime Statewide is a platform for short works for artists across all mediums. The project and tour aims to bring performance into regional gallery venues, finding new audiences across the state.

Requirements of work

  • Works must be technically uncomplicated and able to ‘tour’ to regional gallery venues (non-theatre) in packaging no bigger than a suitcase.
  • Fees are $400 per show for live work (5 shows in total) and a flat fee of $500 for video/screened/automated work.
  • Artist’s travel and accommodation for the regional tour will be supported.
  • Artists should be available for a rehearsal, feedback session and tour briefing in the two weeks leading up to the first performance.
  • Artists should be prepared to be available for all 5 shows between June and October 2010.

Proposals to be no longer than 1-page and must include
:

  • Title of the work
  • Group/Artist(s) names
  • Key Artist’s email, phone and postal address
  • Duration
  • Artistic outline and rationale for the work

Please include any material that supports the proposal or illustrates previous work. Digital support material may be sent through email attachments or made available on a web site. Artist bios a maximum of one page.
