First Flight Crew take off over Western Sydney

10/11/2009 - Media Release

First Flight Crew are a seven piece hip hop outfit from Sydney performing original tracks with Aussie hiphop producer Morganics.

Formed in 2008 after a series of song creation workshops for musicians with disability, the First Flight Crew recently played their fifth gig at ‘Comedy is King’ at the Westin Hotel, Martin Place. This event was a major fundraiser night for Down Syndrome NSW and the Crew were invited to open the evening with break dancing and beat boxing.

The group will be performing next at Fairfield Museum & Gallery on 3 December as a part of International Day for People With Disability.

The First Flight Crew are supported by Accessible Arts’ Western Sydney Branch. The Western Sydney branch works to raise awareness and create opportunities in the arts for people with disabilities across 11 local councils including Auburn, Bankstown, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Liverpool, Parramatta and Penrith.

Western Sydney have recently launched a blog site with information on their projects, resources around arts and disability, and a 'What's On' guide to events and opportunities in the region.
