The Dance for Down syndrome association hopes to begin a national event whereby all schools in Australia can enrol in this dance-a-thon.

The aim is to involve as many students as possible in being sponsored by friends and family to dance and raise money for carer organisations who supply the many resources currently needed by people with Down syndrome across Australia. Each school/group can determine the date and time of the event that best suits their calendar.

Any type of school can register, be it a public or private school, special needs school, dance school or music school, daycare centre or university - can participate. Each school can register their details online on the website.

The funds will go towards care organisations and people that provide essential services and care to people and children who have Down syndrome. Dance for Down Syndrome are a not-for-profit incorporated association and welcome and encourage applications from organizations and groups that care for Down syndrome kids and adults, to apply for funds through the association. Funds will be allocated on a case by case basis by the committee.

When: Two weeks in March 2010 leading up to and including World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March 2010.
