Artstart funding enables inclusion in 24/7 Youth Film Festival
A joint project between Manly, Mosman, Warringah, and Pittwater Councils and funding from ArtStart NSW Youth Arts and Skills Program, has enabled a group of people with disability to be part of the 24/7 Youth Film Festival for the first time.
24/7 'Reelability' enabled a group of people from Sunnyfield Frenchs Forest to enter a short film in the yearly festival, to be screened at the final award ceremony from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Sunday 27 September 2009, Cremorne Orpheum, 380 Military Road, Cremorne.
The theme for the Sunnyfield shortfilm is ‘Back to the Future'. The film is based around the actors dream of becoming famous musicians and creating a band. The film takes the audience through the stages of their realisations, dreams and aspirations to be recognized as pop stars.
Manly Council received additional ArtStart funding to run music workshops with the same group so they will be able to perform their "hit song" in front of the live audience at The Orpheum screening.
The 24/7 Youth Film Festival is a joint project between Manly, Mosman, Warringah, and Pittwater Councils. This year will be its eight year. The Film Festival is for young people from 12 to 24 years living in any of the four Council areas.
