MCA Bella Program : Art education for students with specific needs
Workshops : Sydney : 1 Sep - 18 Dec 09 : The MCA’s popular and pioneering Bella program returns.
Since 1993, Bella has offered free art-making workshops in a fun and nurturing environment for young people with specific needs or from financially/socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Bella was the first program of its kind in NSW cultural institutions.
Student groups aged between 5 – 18 years with physical, intellectual, behavioural, and sensory disabilities, or who have little or no access to museums due to financial or social disadvantage, will benefit from the Bella experience.
Bella programs are tailored to meet the unique requirements of each group, using the MCA’s current exhibitions as a starting point and environment for activities and discussion. Bella’s stimulating practical workshops focus on the processes of art making, comprehension and social skills. Bella programs are led by MCA Art Educators, a specialist team of artists and teachers.
