Access All Areas Film Festival
The first fully accessible travelling film festival is being held in cinemas across NSW during November and December.
The Access All Areas Film Festival will travel to Lismore, Merimbula, Wagga Wagga, Dubbo and Newcastle, culminating with a celebration for International Day of People with a Disability on the 3 December 2008 at the Dendy Opera Quays in Sydney.
Louise Alton will introduce her film All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane at the celebration followed by an Auslan interpreted Q&A session. The short film Yolk, which won an audience award at Sydney Film Festival’s Accessible Cinema in 2007 will also screen at this event.
Presented by DADHC and The Festivalists, the Access All Areas Film Festival will dramatically improve access to cinema across the state. All sessions will be audio described, open-captioned and wheelchair accessible. The classic Australian film The Castle is one of three Australian films on the program. Having only recently been audio described and captioned, this popular feature film is now accessible to everyone.
