Connecting Communities call for steering committee

24/11/2011 - North Coast

Accessible Arts’ North Coast based project Connecting Communities is forming a steering committee to discuss inclusive events, forums and audience development across all art forms throughout the region. Artists with a disability, practitioners from the arts and disability sector and representatives from local government and arts venues are encouraged to participate.

Funded by the NSW Government Department of Family and Community Services, Connecting Communities is a three-year project being managed by Alstonville based Julie Barratt. As the North Coast Accessible Arts Officer, Julie is responsible for delivering the project that aims to establish new arts and disability networks and support existing opportunities for people with disability across the broader North Coast region.

Expressions of interest are being sought to form two steering committees comprised of four members each, who will advise on forums, events, access and workshops that will take place across 13 council regions from Kempsey to Tweed.

Contact Julie Barratt, Accessible Arts Officer North Coast, 1/5 Bruxner Highway Alstonville NSW 2478 Tel: 02 6628 8120 or JBarratt@aarts.net.au by January 2012.
