Biography:
Experience ranges from working as an arts and community worker with Mental Health and Disability for over 15 years (ACT). Established the Belconnen Open Art Program, ACT. My approach to a workshop is focussed around a sense of purpose and place. There is an emphasis on teaching skills that are achievable in a supportive and caring environment. The process is also organic within the framework of the workshop allowing people to develop artistically and as an individual.

Nyree Reynolds

Biography:
I am an Indigenous woman of the Gamillaroi Nation and an artist member of Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co op. I have facilitated art workshops for intellectually disabled adults in Blayney. We worked towards a very well received exhibition. My work is based around teaching colour mixing and composition, then the participants are free to choose a subject that interests them, which I help them to pursue to their ability. I have worked with intellectually disabled young adults in Cowra. My brother, who is now 50, is epileptic and has an intellectual disability so I have been involved with people with disabilities all my life.

Biography:
I have cerebral palsy. I use augmentative communication and an electric wheelchair. I have just begun my work in this area. I and my co-artist work to develop awareness of the possibilities for severely disabled people to access art given the encouragement and innovative approach that is required in each unique situation. Watching me achieve art based creativity models the very thing we are trying to help others achieve. Although I am physically unable to execute many of the physical demands of my creations I am able to choose colour, texture, themes, furbishing, size etc. In short all the decisions are made by me. I want to open creativity up to others like myself who don't ever have the opportunity to do such joyful things. For two years I have been involved in textile based artworks with a co-artist. I have a goal to develop my skills and experience in many art forms and to encourage and model the active involvement of other people with high support needs in the enjoyment and experience of expressing oneself.

Biography:
I am a visual artist that works with disability groups on ongoing art programs as well as specific community arts projects including public art. I currently works with two disability groups to produce and exhibit artworks. I work primarily with clay to create interesting artworks such as wind chimes, animals, and masks, using methods that enable people to create to their ability with positive outcomes.

Biography: I have been developing my skills as a visual artist since 1984, and have facilitated and coordinated community art and cultural projects and events since 1996. This includes mural projects, festivals, art markets, photographic and film workshops, visual art programs and Community art exhibitions. For the past five years I have worked primarily as an art tutor and outreach artsworker. I have experience working with individuals and groups broadly referred to as marginalised, special needs and high risk. Currently I am employed by the (City of Sydney Council) Pine Street Creative Arts centre as an outreach worker/tutor.

Biography:
I am a visual arts instructor with ten years experience in drawing, painting, collage, 3D sculpture and mixed media. I spent three years working at First Street Gallery in Claremont, California as an art instructor for adults (18+) with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. I designed and facilitated individual lessons and goals for clients depending on their needs and interests. My experience also includes formal and informal museum tours, community art workshops and lecturing in art history. I am currently a casual painting instructor at the National Art School in Sydney.

Biography:
Since I was 17, I have had a vision impairment through a Genetic Disorder called Von Hippell Lindau. I have been legally blind since 2005. Despite this, I have over 30 years experience in visual arts and photography in both a teaching and commercial capacity. I have experience in working with local Community Colleges and Youth groups. I have also taught Literacy through Art Programs for Adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, in which each student creates their own individual communication book.

Biography: I am a practicing artist with broad experience in a wide range of the visual and performing arts as well as teaching and project development. I am experienced at working with people of varying abilities and have had students from the age of 13 to 65. My main focus now is in the visual arts, primarily video and multimedia. I also know the constricting influence occasioned by a kidney condition that requires regular access to treatment. My work experience includes teaching at public and private tertiary art institutions and practice with video, audio and multimedia projects, including with the Museum of Contemporary Art and College of Fine Arts, University of NSW. I particularly enjoy helping people to discover their own abilities in a fun environment and I believe that is a specialist area of my expertise.

Biography: My own art practice spans a variety of mediums and disciplines, including sculpture, installation and drawing. I have over 10 years experience facilitating art making programs for secondary school students, elderly people, people recovering from mental illnesses, people with intellectual and physical disabilities. I see art making as a sensual process, which increases ones awareness of physicality and the senses, as well as an opportunity to connect with the world, learn the value of risk-taking, and develop new approaches.

Biography: As an artist I enjoy sharing and teaching artistic skills and techniques to a range of people with varying abilities. As a tutor with the TAFE Learning Disabilities Support Unit I gained experience supporting students with learning difficulties one to one and in small team environments. Biography: I have conducted workshops for a variety of organizations including Accessible Arts, Bankstown Council, Reverse Garbage and the Powerhouse Discovery Centre. These workshops have enabled me to practice with people of all ages and people with disabilities covering a wide range of abilities. As an interdisciplinary artist with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Media Arts), I am skilled in photography, video, sculpture, jewellery, textiles, sound, performance and creative electronics. Recycling materials to make art is another of my interests. By request I directed and edited two short film documentaries for the Who We Are project for the National Film Board of Canada.
