Catalyst Dance Masterclass SeriesThe Accessible Arts Catalyst Dance Masterclass Series aims to provide skills development and training for dance practitioners, teachers, choreographers and dancers with and without disability currently working or interested in working in inclusive practices. 

The masterclass series consists of three progressive workshops, during which, participants experience professional development and training from some of Australia's leading choreographers.

Objectives

Workshop participants will: 

  • Experience professional development and training
  • Explore strategies and methods for devising work
  • Engage with some of Australia’s leading choreographers

As the series is designed as a progressive skills development process participants are encouraged to attend all three workshops to gain the most benefit.

Who

Facilitated by three of Australia’s leading choreographers, Sue Healey, Dean Walsh and Philip Channells. Accessible Arts is hosting a series of three dance masterclasses tailored to dancers with and without physical or sensory disability, and people with mental illness or acquired brain injury. 

How

The workshop process focuses on choreographic devising methods and strategies for creating new contemporary dance theatre. Dancers will be involved in a collaborative process that involves improvisation, task-based exercises and individual creative choices unique to each participant and choreographer’s method and process.

Second Skin - Rehearsal - Sunday 15 September

10:00 – 4pm including dress and technical rehearsal with each choreographer

Second Skin – Public Showing - Sunday 15 September

The showing will be presented at 6:30-8pm

Access

Wheel Chair and low vision, blind access, Auslan available on requestThe Bangarra Studio/Theatre is an accessible venue. Wheel Chair, Auslan, Disability parking and drop offs on the Pier can be arranged. Bookings are essential for Auslan Interpretation.

Payment

The registration fee covers 7 days of dance training, skills development and the showing of Second Skin.

Early Bird Offer: $350 closes Friday 19 July 2013 
Full Registration: $400 closes Friday 16 August 2013

Whilst it is preferred that participants attend the series in its entirety, an option is available to select individual workshops. All participants are encouraged to be involved in the showing performance on Sunday 15 September.

Individual Workshops: $150 per weekend closes Friday 16 August 2013
