SOLO DANCE PIECE
Kyra Kimpton, SA
A dance theatre solo that explores the intricacies of personal obsession and compulsion, the desires we feel and how we control and express them. Exploring new territory for the Australian performing arts; the work will create a coherent collage of audio description, Auslan, signed song, dance and physical theatre, culminating in a dynamic and consistent platform where the diverse mediums are experienced as equally valuable and necessary contributions to the overall whole; innovative, challenging and exciting.
Collaborators Kyra Kimpton (performer, SA) and choreographer Jemima Hoadley, Wreckless Arts Dance (UK) will be undertaking a one-month creative development during January 2010 in London. Kyra will then return to Australia where the work will be shown as part of Arts Activated National Conference. Prelude is an ongoing development, assisted by The Richard Llewellyn Arts and Disability Trust, the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body and the Government of South Australian through Arts SA.
